Glenwarrah Herefords & Brooksby Angus 2018 Sale Results

Sale day 2018 was a very pleasing surprise for our family.  With the current drought taking a toll on farmers in the Eastern States we were prepared for a tough and disappointing day.  Many of our clients had already contacted us letting us know that they were unable to support the sale but wished us all the best regardless.  We were pleased to see our local clients still come along to the sale to have a look through the bulls even though they were not in the position to buy.  As the morning moved on the crowd continued to roll in and by 11.30 we were happy to see a good crowd in the stands.

This year the support that came from Queensland and the Northern Rivers, as well as, local clients really surprised us.  They purchased in large numbers both Hereford and Angus bulls and were also keen to try out our low birth weight Angus yearling bulls.

Hereford bulls averaged $6480 with a total clearance.

The top price bull was a Hereford, lot 10 Glenwarrah Mumbai M183, purchased by David and Leanne Reid of Somerton, they paid $18,000 for him and plan to use him with some of their pure bred Hereford cows.  They thought Mumbai, had great confirmation with softness of hair and easy fleshing with a lot of appeal.  The Reid’s run 800 breeders producing calves into a grass feed market.

The Bock Family from Wandoan who have been absent from our sale in previous years, were back to purchase six Herefords bulls.  They run a Brahman and Santa Gertrudis herd and they like to cross them with the Herefords to bring a touch of British content back through every now and then.  They have been using our bulls for many years with great success.

Angus bulls averaged $5500

Other buyers from the Taroom area, The Liddle Family were strong on the Angus bulls taking home 8 bulls, including  7 from the yearling Angus low birth weight group.  The Angus bulls averaged $5500 with a top of $8500 going to Mr Pat McCormack of Bingara.
